I am always searching for ways to add more drama to my fine art images. I don't want my pictures to be mere snapshots, rather, I strive for an artistic rendering that has more of an emotional impact. When this fantastic male lion climbed up onto a termite hill, I immediately started maneuvering to find a perspective with a clear background. Just as I got into place the lion turned to face me, and a gust of wind caught his main. I was thrilled. Looking at the RAW file back home did not evoke that same sense of excitement. The image on the screen was simply not like I remembered it on safari. A combination of Nik Silver Efex Pro and some blend mode magic in Photoshop imparted the drama I was looking to restore.
